Primary Quotes

"Violence, Violence, Violence"

Sarah was trying to get a little boy to go to primary, but he was very upset and did not want to go.  In an attempt to help him calm down, Sarah suggested that they each share things that they like.

After going back and forth a few times, Sarah said, "You know what I really like? Primary songs.  I love singing primary songs."

Sarah's tactic didn't work as the young boy responded, "I like violence. Violence, violence, violence."

"My Dad is a Warrior"

At the end of one of her sharing time lessons, Sarah had a little boy tell her that he had something very important that he wanted to tell her.  Since she was out of time, she wrapped up her lesson but then went over to the boy to find out what the important thing was that he wanted her to know.

"My dad is a warrior.  He uses weapons.  Sometimes he fights giants."

"In a Place Called England"

The primary children are learning the song, "Follow the Prophet."  The chorister was reviewing the first verse about Adam with the junior primary a couple weeks ago.  She would say the first few words of a phrase and the kids would finish the phrase.

(Chorister) "Adam was a..."
(Children) "...Prophet!"

(Chorister) "First one that we..."
(Children) "...Know!"

(Chorister) "In a place called..."
(Most Children) "...Eden!"
(One Child) "...England!"

(Chorister) "He helped things to..."
(Children) "...Grow!"

Good thing Adam was around or nothing would be growing in England.

"There are Three Nephis in Here"

I was playing the piano in primary recently and during sharing time they were talking about prophets.  The member of the primary presidency had a bunch of pictures of prophets from the scriptures and was asking kids to identify the prophets from the pictures.

Two of the pictures were of Nephi--one on the boat with the rest of his family and one when he was shocking Laman and Lemuel.  One of the little Sunbeam boys turned to his teacher and said, "There are three Nephis in here."

Then he counted as he pointed to the different pictures: "One" (Nephi on the boat), "Two" (Nephi shocking his brothers), "Three" (Pointing to me sitting at the piano).

I guess that's what happens when you grow a long beard--little kids think you are Nephi (even though he doesn't have a beard in either of those pictures).

"My Mom Yells at Me and I Yell Back"

During a sharing time lesson about the different roles that mothers and fathers have in the home, a member of the primary presidency asked what moms do at home.

One of the little girls raised her hand and calmly responded, "My mom yells at me," then added, "and I yell back."

"Me...and My Pet Dinosaur"

A member of the bishopric was visiting primary to introduce the theme for the month which was about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  He asked the children what Jesus was praying about when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane.

One of the little boys raised his hand and said, "He was praying about me."

The member of the bishopric looked satisfied with the answer and was about to continued when the little boy added, "and my pet dinosaur."  The bishopric member then looked over to the primary presidency and said, "What am I supposed to say to that?  I don't know how you respond to stuff like that."  Then he abruptly ended his message and left.

"Revelation" vs. "Revolution"

We were teaching our primary class about the apostasy and talking about things that are part of Jesus Christ's church.  One of the word-strips we prepared said "Ongoing Revelation."  After showing the word-strip, we asked,
"What does revelation mean?"

"Revolution, isn't that like war?  Yeah, war."

"No, revelation, not revolution.  Do you know what revelation is?"

"Well, it's not war, so it's peace."

Yeah, I guess so.  Revelation can bring peace.
