Charles Bridge

If you want to find tourists in Prague, the Charles Bridge is the place to go.  It is named after Charles IV, who was the king when it was finished in the beginning of the 15th century.  It has about thirty statues, placed on either side, not to mention all the artists who are along the bridge.

It's hard to get a good picture of the bridge, but here was my attempt.

The most popular statue by far is that of St. John of Nepomuk, the national saint of the Czech Republic, who was drowned when he was thrown off of the Charles Bridge in the 1300's.

According to Czech legend, you are granted one wish as you touch the depiction of his drowning.  So, naturally, Sarah and I took our turns getting our wishes.

It took a lot longer than you'd expect to get these pictures, as Europeans apparently have no concept of a line.
We would wait in what we thought was a line, only to have a whole group cut in front of us.

No bridge is complete without a picture of me and Sarah.
Whoever we got to take our picture did a really good job at not getting the Prague Castle into it.
