Bone Church

A visit with Kutná Hora would be a waste without visiting the Bone Church.  In fact, I don't know who would visit Kutná Hora unless they were going to visit the Bone Church.  As to the history of the Bone Church, apparently someone visited the Holy Land in the 13th century and brought back some dirt, which he sprinkled over the cemetery there.  As one would expect, everyone wanted to be buried there afterwards, and as a result somewhere around 40,000 people were buried there.  The problem with this is that there wasn't much room, and apparently, some of the monks got bored, so they decided to do some interior decorating.

Sarah in front of the entrance to the Bone Church (after we passed the cashier, of course.)

A coat of arms made of human bones.
(How many times do you get to write that in your life?)

Me next to a coat of arms made of human bones.
(Yeah, I mostly just wanted to write that again.)

A close up of a bird pecking out an eye of a Turk, on a coat of arms made of human bones.
(Okay, writing that three times is enough, for now.)

A chandelier made of human bones.
(Too bad our apartment doesn't have the room for a chandelier...)
